5 Reasons You Should Smile Everyday

A smile is recognized as a universal language. Genuine smiles echo a sense of hospitality and warmth, both keys to great leaders. Think back to a time when you were walking down the street and a stranger just smiled. Most likely, that smile caused you to smile, even if it was for a split second. Hopefully by the end of this, you’ll want to smile everyday. Smile everyday.
When I’m having a bad day, I try to smile. I find that after a few minutes, I am in a better mood. Here are 5 reasons why you should smile more everyday, especially as a leader.
  • Smiling helps your mood.

    Science has proved that our mood can be increased with a smile. The influence of a smile over our mood is a fascinating thing.

  • Smiling will reduce your stress

    According to Smithsonian Magazine, taking the time to smile helps reduce stress.

  • A smile makes you welcoming

    Being approachable is crucial to success, but as a leader, it is your objective. A smile can actually make you more approachable.

  • Smiles are more contagious than the flu

    Seriously, being around other people who are smiling will make even a sour puss smile. Try it. I dare you

  • A smile just makes you better

    You will be seen as more trustworthy, influential, and caring. This makes you a better leader by simply smiling!

  • Smiling costs you nothing

    Few things in life are free. If getting something for free isn’t reason enough to smile, I don’t know if I can be of help. Use it, abuse it, but don’t lose it. Just smile.

People want a welcoming person to interact with. As a leader, you want people to follow you, build your influence with smiles. Remember, a leader without followers is just out for a walk.
