With over 15 years of leadership experience in public safety, security operations, and emergency management, Josh Ball is a seasoned executive dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals and communities during high-pressure, large-scale events. Josh’s career has been defined by his ability to anticipate, plan, and respond to critical incidents in complex and fast-paced environments.

Josh currently serves as a Senior Director of Safety & Security, where he leads comprehensive security operations for one of professional sports most iconic clubs. His role includes overseeing life safety management, incident response, and risk mitigation strategies for events that attract tens of thousands of fans and staff. Josh’s expertise lies in developing proactive safety measures, integrating cutting-edge technologies, and fostering close relationships with law enforcement, emergency services, and industry partners.

Previously, Josh was the Senior Director of Security, Safety & First Aid at Churchill Downs, where he spearheaded security operations for the world-renowned Kentucky Derby. Managing the safety of over 350,000 patrons, athletes, and staff, he led cross-functional teams responsible for access control, surveillance, and medical services, ensuring seamless operations in collaboration with local, state, and federal emergency agencies.

Josh’s executive journey began at the Louisville Airport Authority, where he was responsible for public safety operations at a major international airport, as the Chief of Police. Leading efforts in police, fire, EMS, and emergency management, Josh honed his ability to handle complex emergencies, implement regulatory standards, and lead diverse teams. His time in airport security and law enforcement gave him invaluable insights into managing safety in environments that require precision and adaptability.

He has been actively involved in professional organizations such as the Airport Law Enforcement Agency Network (ALEAN), American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4).
